How Likely Is It?
With your kind teacher Mrs. Brenda β€οΈ
Probability is the chance that something will happen. It helps us understand how likely or unlikely events are β from rolling a dice to rain tomorrow or winning a game!
We can also use numbers:
0 = Impossible β 1 = Certain
Example: Flipping a coin β Probability of Heads = 1/2 = 0.5 = 50%
Question 1
A bag has 3 red marbles and 7 blue marbles. What is the probability of picking a red marble?
Question 2
Is it more likely, less likely, or equally likely to roll an even number on a dice?
Question 3
What does a probability of 0 mean?
β’ Weather forecasts (β30% chance of rainβ)
β’ Sports (βprobability of winning the gameβ)
β’ Games and lotteries
β’ Insurance companies
β’ Doctors talking about chances of recovery
Great job today! You understand the basics of probability and how we use it every day.
Try thinking about probabilities in your daily life β like the chance youβll have your favourite dinner tonight!
Love and lucky high-fives,
Mrs. Brenda β€οΈ
