How Do Two Groups Compare?
With your kind teacher Mrs. Brenda ❤️
Today we learn how to compare two different sets of data! We use Mean, Median, Mode, Range, and graphs to decide which group is taller, faster, better, or more consistent.
Mean = 85.8
Median = 85
Mode = 85
Range = 16
Mean = 85.3
Median = 89
Mode = none
Range = 33
Conclusion: Class A is more consistent (smaller range), but Class B has some very high scores.
Question 1
Team A goals: 3, 4, 4, 5, 6
Team B goals: 2, 3, 5, 7, 8
Question 2
Which measure best shows consistency?
• Comparing boys’ and girls’ test scores
• Looking at temperature in different cities
• Comparing hockey teams’ performance
• Checking sales before and after a promotion
• Comparing heights of students in two grades
Fantastic job! You can now compare two sets of data like a real statistician.
Try comparing the number of steps you and your family walk each day!
Love and proud high-fives,
Mrs. Brenda ❤️
