Today we’re learning about Volume — the amount of space inside a 3D shape! We will focus on right rectangular prisms (like boxes, rooms, and cereal boxes). Volume tells us how much something can hold — water, toys, air, or even how big a swimming pool is!

1. What Does a Rectangular Prism Look Like?

Length

A right rectangular prism has 6 rectangular faces, like a box.

2. The Magic Formula

Volume = Length × Width × Height
V = l × w × h

Units are always cubic units: cm³, m³, etc.

3. Step-by-Step Examples

Example 1: A box is 5 cm long, 4 cm wide, and 3 cm high.
Volume = 5 × 4 × 3 = 60 cm³
Example 2: A room is 6 m long, 5 m wide, and 3 m high.
Volume = 6 × 5 × 3 = 90 m³
