Perimeter is the distance around the outside.
Area is the space inside.

They are different, but they work together in interesting ways!

Same Perimeter → Different Areas!

For the same perimeter, some shapes have more area than others.

Among all shapes with the same perimeter, the square has the biggest area!

2. Same Perimeter = 24 metres

10 m × 2 m

Perimeter = 24 m

Area = 20 m²

6 m × 6 m

Perimeter = 24 m

Area = 36 m²

11 m × 1 m

Perimeter = 24 m

Area = 11 m²
