Today we’re learning how to find the Area β€” the amount of space inside a shape! We’ll discover easy formulas for rectangles, parallelograms, and triangles. Area helps us know how much carpet we need, how big a garden is, and much more!

1. Area of a Rectangle

Area = Length Γ— Width

Example: A rug is 8 m long and 5 m wide β†’ Area = 8 Γ— 5 = 40 mΒ²

2. Area of a Parallelogram

Base
Γ—
Height
Area = Base Γ— Height
A = b Γ— h

The height is the perpendicular (straight up) distance, not the slanted side!

3. Area of a Triangle

Area = (Base Γ— Height) Γ· 2
A = (b Γ— h) / 2

A triangle is half of a parallelogram with the same base and height.
