Today we’re learning about Perimeter β€” the total distance around the outside of a shape! Whether the shape is regular (all sides equal) or irregular (sides different), we just add up all the sides. Perimeter helps us build fences, measure rooms, and solve real-life problems.

1. What is Perimeter?

Perimeter = Sum of ALL the sides

2. Regular Shapes (Easy Formulas)

Perimeter = 4 Γ— side

Rectangle
Perimeter = 2 Γ— (length + width)

Perimeter = 3 Γ— side

3. Irregular Shapes (Just Add All Sides!)

Example Irregular Shape Sides: 5 cm, 8 cm, 4 cm, 6 cm, 7 cm
Perimeter = 5 + 8 + 4 + 6 + 7 = 30 cm
