Today weβre learning how to classify two big families of 3D shapes: Prisms and Pyramids! We will discover what makes them different and how to name them. Get your detective hats on β letβs investigate! ππ¦
Prism
β’ Has two identical parallel bases (same shape)
β’ Sides are rectangles (in right prisms)
β’ Named by the shape of its base
Examples: Triangular Prism, Rectangular Prism, Pentagonal Prism
Pyramid
β’ Has one base (any polygon)
β’ All other faces are triangles that meet at one point (apex)
β’ Named by the shape of its base
Examples: Square Pyramid, Triangular Pyramid (Tetrahedron)
