Today we’re learning how to write **simple algorithms** — clear, step-by-step instructions that tell a computer (or a person) exactly what to do! Good algorithms are like perfect recipes: clear, ordered, and easy to follow. Let’s practice writing them together! 📝💻

1. What is an Algorithm?

An algorithm is a list of clear steps to solve a problem or complete a task.

It must be:
• Clear and precise
• In the correct order
• Repeatable (someone else can follow it)

2. Everyday Algorithm Examples

To make a simple sandwich: 1. Take two slices of bread 2. Spread peanut butter on one slice 3. Spread jam on the other slice 4. Put the slices together 5. Cut in half (optional)

To find the next number in a pattern (add 4): 1. Take the last number 2. Add 4 to it 3. Write the new number

3. Tips for Writing Good Algorithms

Use numbers for each step
Be very specific (no guessing)
Use words like “if”, “repeat”, “then”
Test your algorithm by following it yourself
