Hello my wonderful Grade 5 superstar! ๐
I'm Kashef and today we're learning about Sales Tax! Sales tax is a small extra amount added to the price of things you buy. The money helps pay for roads, schools, hospitals, and parks. In Canada we often call it HST or GST. Ready to learn how to calculate it? Letโs go! ๐
๐ท๏ธ What is Sales Tax?
Sales tax is added AFTER the regular price.
Price $100 โ Tax $13 โ You pay $113
The tax helps our country and province run smoothly!
๐งฎ How to Calculate Sales Tax
Easy way: Multiply the price by the tax rate (example 13% = 0.13)
Example 1: A book costs $20. Tax is 13%.
$20 ร 0.13 = $2.60 tax
Total = $20 + $2.60 = $22.60
Example 2: Headphones $50 with 13% tax.
Tax = $6.50 โ Total = $56.50
๐ฏ Letโs Practice Sales Tax!
