Hello my wonderful Grade 5 superstar! ๐
I'm Kashef and today we're learning about Discounts! A discount means you pay less than the full price. Stores use discounts to make things cheaper so more people can buy them. Knowing how to calculate discounts helps you save money and be a smart shopper! Ready to hunt for bargains? Letโs go! ๐
๐ท๏ธ What is a Discount?
A discount is money taken off the regular price.
Original price $50 โ You pay only $40
You save money and the store still sells the item!
๐งฎ How to Calculate a Discount
Example 1: A toy costs $30. It has $5 off.
New price = $30 - $5 = $25
Example 2: A shirt costs $40 with 25% off.
25% of $40 = $10 off โ New price = $40 - $10 = $30
๐ฏ Letโs Practice Discounts!
1. A game costs $25. There is $8 off today. How much do you pay?
2. Headphones cost $60 with 20% off. How much is the discount and new price?
