🧠 What is a Tessellation?

Shapes that tile the plane (cover it completely) without gaps or overlaps.

Squares make a simple tessellation!

🔍 Which Shapes Tessellate?

Yes: Squares, equilateral triangles, regular hexagons

Sometimes: Many irregular shapes and combinations

No: Circles (they leave gaps)

1. Why can hexagons tessellate like in a honeycomb?

Each angle is 120° and 3 angles fit perfectly around a point (360°)

2. Can you tessellate with pentagons?

Regular pentagons cannot (they leave gaps)
