Hello my wonderful Grade 5 superstar! π
I'm Kashef and today we're learning about Polygons! "Poly" means many and "gon" means angle. A polygon is a closed shape made with straight lines. Triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons and more are all polygons! Ready to explore many-sided shapes? Letβs go! π
π§ What is a Polygon?
A closed shape with straight sides. It must be flat (2D) and have no gaps or crossing lines.
- β Triangle (3 sides)
- β Quadrilateral (4 sides)
- β Pentagon (5 sides)
- β Hexagon (6 sides)
π’ Types of Polygons
Regular Polygon β All sides equal, all angles equal
Irregular Polygon β Sides and angles can be different
By Number of Sides:
- 3 sides = Triangle
- 4 sides = Quadrilateral
- 5 sides = Pentagon
- 6 sides = Hexagon
- 8 sides = Octagon
