If... Then...

Grade 5 Ontario Math πŸ“š β€’ Algebra & Computational Thinking

Hello my wonderful Grade 5 superstar! πŸ‘‹

I'm Kashef and today we're learning Conditional Statements! These are "If... Then..." rules that help us make decisions. Computers and mathematicians use them all the time. Ready to become a Decision Maker? Let’s go! πŸš€

🧠 What is a Conditional Statement?

It says: If something is true, then do this action.

IF it is raining
THEN take an umbrella

✍️ Math & Everyday Examples

Math Example:

IF a number ends with 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8
THEN it is even

Game Example:

IF score > 100
THEN you win the level

🎯 Let’s Make Conditional Statements!

1. Write a conditional for: If you have 10 or more stickers, you can trade.

IF stickers β‰₯ 10 THEN you can trade

2. IF a number is divisible by 5, THEN...

it ends with 0 or 5

3. IF it is your birthday, THEN...

you get cake and presents!

πŸ›’ Real-Life Conditional Problems

Problem 1: In a game, IF you collect 20 stars, THEN you get a bonus life. How many stars do you need for a bonus?

20 stars

Problem 2: Write a conditional for sharing cookies: If there are enough for everyone to have 3, then share them.

IF total cookies Γ· friends β‰₯ 3 THEN share equally
