Putting Things in the Right Order

Grade 5 Ontario Math πŸ“š β€’ Algebra & Patterns

Hello my wonderful Grade 5 superstar! πŸ‘‹

I'm Kashef and today we're learning about Sequencing! Sequencing means putting numbers, steps, or events in the correct order. We use it in patterns, stories, daily routines, and algorithms. Ready to become a Sequencing Detective? Let’s go! πŸš€

🧠 What is Sequencing?

Putting things in order so they make sense! It can be numbers getting bigger or smaller, or steps to do something.

2, 5, 8, 11, 14, ...

Each number is 3 more than the one before it!

✍️ Number & Step Sequences

Number Sequence: 10, 20, 30, 40, __

50 (add 10 each time)

Daily Routine Sequence:

  1. Wake up
  2. Brush teeth
  3. Eat breakfast
  4. Go to school

🎯 Let’s Practice Sequencing!

1. Continue the sequence: 7, 14, 21, 28, __

35 (add 7)

2. Put these steps in order to make a pizza:

A. Bake it   B. Add toppings   C. Roll the dough

C β†’ B β†’ A

3. What comes next? 100, 90, 80, 70, __

60 (subtract 10)

πŸ›’ Real-Life Sequencing

Problem 1: You save $5 every week. Week 1: $5, Week 2: $10, Week 3: $15. How much in Week 6?

$30 (add 5 each week)

Problem 2: Describe the sequence to get ready for school in the morning.

1. Wake up 2. Get dressed 3. Eat breakfast 4. Pack bag 5. Go to school

πŸ§ͺ Quick Sequencing Quiz

Question: What comes next? 4, 8, 12, 16, __

You are a Sequencing Superstar! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³

Kashef is super proud of you! You can now continue number sequences and order steps correctly.

Sequencing helps us understand patterns, follow instructions, and solve problems β€” you're thinking like a real mathematician and coder!
