Plot Ordered Pairs!

Put Points on the Grid

Grade 5 Ontario Math πŸ“š β€’ Algebra

Hello my wonderful Grade 5 superstar! πŸ‘‹

I'm Kashef and today we're learning to Plot Ordered Pairs! An ordered pair (x, y) tells us exactly where to place a point on the grid. x tells us how far to go right or left, y tells us how far up or down. Let's become grid artists! πŸš€

🧠 What is an Ordered Pair?

(x, y) β†’ First number = x (across), Second number = y (up)

Example: (3, 2) = go right 3, up 2

✍️ Plot These Points

Point A: (2, 4)

Point B: (5, 1)

Point C: (0, 3)

🎯 Your Turn to Plot!

1. Plot (4, 2)

Right 4, Up 2

2. Plot (1, 5)

Right 1, Up 5

3. What ordered pair is at right 3, up 0?

(3, 0)

πŸ—ΊοΈ Real-Life Plotting

Problem 1: You start at (0,0). Walk 6 steps right and 3 steps up. What ordered pair are you at?

(6, 3)
