📋 Remember: BEDMAS Order

Brackets → Division & Multiplication (left to right) → Addition & Subtraction (left to right)

📝 Example Word Problem

You buy 4 packs of pencils. Each pack costs $3. You also buy 2 notebooks for $5 each. How much do you spend total?

(4 × 3) + (2 × 5) = 12 + 10 = $22

1. A pizza costs $24. You and 3 friends share it after eating 6 slices total. There are 12 slices. How much does each person pay?

(24 ÷ 12) × 6 = 12 slices eaten → remaining cost shared: but full: total $24 for 4 people = $6 each

2. You have 50 points. You lose (4 + 6) points and then gain 20 points. What is your final score?

50 − 10 + 20 = 60 points

3. 8 boxes have 12 crayons each. You use 15 crayons. How many crayons are left?

(8 × 12) − 15 = 81 crayons

🌍 Real-Life Stories

Shopping: You buy 3 notebooks for $5 each and 4 pens for $2 each. You have a $10 coupon. How much do you pay?

(3×5) + (4×2) − 10 = 23 − 10 = $13

Travel: A car travels 85 km per hour for 3 hours, then stops for 45 minutes. How far has it gone?

85 × 3 = 255 km
