π§ What is Expanded Form?
Expanded Form shows the value of each digit by writing it as a sum. We break the number into its place values!
Example:
This means: 4 ten-thousands + 5 thousands + 6 hundreds + 7 tens + 8 ones

Example 1: Write 56,789 in expanded form.
Answer: 50,000 + 6,000 + 700 + 80 + 9

7 β 700 (hundreds)
8 β 80 (tens)
9 β 9 (ones)
Add them up: 50,000 + 6,000 + 700 + 80 + 9
Example 2: Write 123,456 in expanded form.
Answer: 100,000 + 20,000 + 3,000 + 400 + 50 + 6
