Hello my dear student! I am Miss Brenda, your kind and caring Grade 4 math teacher π
Today we are learning about **Transformations**! A transformation is when we move or change a shape in different ways without changing its size or shape. The three main transformations are: Translations, Reflections, and Rotations.
Transformations show how we can move a shape on a grid or in space. The shape stays the same size β it just moves, flips, or turns!
Translation means **sliding** the shape without rotating or flipping it. It moves in a straight line β up, down, left, or right.
Reflection means **flipping** the shape over a line (like a mirror). The shape looks like its mirror image.
Rotation means **turning** the shape around a point. We can turn it 90Β°, 180Β°, or 270Β° clockwise or counterclockwise.
You now understand Transformations: Translation (slide), Reflection (flip), and Rotation (turn)!
I am so proud of you for learning Spatial Sense so well. These ideas help us understand how shapes move in the world around us.
π You are smart. You are kind. You can do hard things.
When you are ready, tell me the next topic and I will create another beautiful lesson just for you!
