Today we are learning about **Coordinate Grids**! This is like a treasure map for math. We use coordinates to find exact locations on a grid.

🗺️ What is a Coordinate Grid?

A coordinate grid is like a big piece of graph paper with two lines that cross:

📍 How to Read and Plot Points

Every point has an address called **coordinates (x, y)**.

First number (x) = how far to go along the bottom (horizontal)
Second number (y) = how far to go up (vertical)

Examples:

(3, 2) → Go 3 to the right, then 2 up
(5, 0) → Go 5 to the right, stay on the bottom line
(0, 4) → Stay on the left line, go 4 up

1. (4, 3) → 4 right, 3 up
2. (2, 5) → 2 right, 5 up
3. (0, 0) → The origin
Practice 2: Plot the Points

Plot these points on a grid:
A (1, 4)  B (5, 4)  C (5, 1)  D (1, 1)

What shape do they make? → A rectangle / square
Practice 3: Word Problems (Canadian Style)

1. You are making a treasure map. The treasure is at (6, 2). How do you get there from (0,0)?
Go 6 right, then 2 up

2. A hockey puck is at point (3, 5) on the rink grid. If it moves 4 units right, what are the new coordinates?
(7, 5)
