Today we are learning about **Symmetry**! Symmetry is when a shape can be folded so that both halves match perfectly. It’s like a mirror image!

🦋 What is Symmetry?

A shape has **symmetry** if you can draw a line through it so that both sides look exactly the same. That line is called the **line of symmetry**.

📏 Line of Symmetry

Examples with Line of Symmetry:

• A heart ❤️
• A butterfly 🦋
• The letter A
• A square ⬛
• The Canadian flag (has vertical symmetry)

✨ Types of Symmetry

1. Line Symmetry (Mirror Symmetry)
Can be folded along a line so both sides match.

Example: Square has 4 lines of symmetry
2. Rotational Symmetry
Looks the same when turned around a center point.

Example: A square looks the same after turning 90°

3. Equilateral triangle → 3
4. Isosceles triangle → 1

1. The Canadian flag has a red maple leaf in the middle. Does it have a vertical line of symmetry?
Yes

2. You draw a heart shape. If you fold it down the middle, do both sides match?
Yes — it has 1 line of symmetry
