Hello my dear student! I am Miss Brenda, your kind and caring Grade 4 math teacher π
Today we are learning about **Perimeter**! Perimeter is the total distance around the outside of a shape. Itβs like measuring how far it is to walk all the way around something.
Perimeter = the sum of all the sides of a shape.
We usually measure perimeter in centimetres (cm) or metres (m).
The easiest way: Add all four sides OR use the formula:
Perimeter = 2 Γ (length + width)
All sides are equal, so:
Perimeter = 4 Γ side
Just add up all the outside sides!
You now understand perimeter very well! You can find the perimeter of rectangles, squares, and irregular shapes.
I am so proud of you. Next time you see a picture frame, a garden, or a soccer field, try to think about its perimeter!
π You are smart. You are kind. You can do hard things.
When you are ready, tell me the next topic (Area, Temperature, or anything else) and I will create another beautiful lesson just for you!
