💰 Money and Decimals

1 dollar = 100 cents

We write money like this: $3.75

The number before the decimal point is **dollars**.
The number after the decimal point is **cents** (hundredths).

$4.85

4 = dollars
8 = tenths (8 dimes = 80 cents)
5 = hundredths (5 pennies = 5 cents)

Total = 4 dollars and 85 cents

Penny (1¢) = $0.01
Nickel (5¢) = $0.05
Dime (10¢) = $0.10
Quarter (25¢) = $0.25
Loonie ($1) = $1.00
Toonie ($2) = $2.00

📝 How to Read Money Amounts

$0.35 → thirty-five cents
$1.25 → one dollar and twenty-five cents
$12.99 → twelve dollars and ninety-nine cents
$5.00 → five dollars (or five dollars exactly)
