🌟 Ordering Decimals 🌟

Today we are learning how to put decimals in order — from smallest to biggest (ascending) or biggest to smallest (descending). This is very useful for money, heights, and sports records!

📋 How to Order Decimals

1. Line up all the decimal points.
2. Add zeros so all numbers have the same number of decimal places.
3. Compare digit by digit, starting from the left (just like whole numbers).

🌟 Examples

Order from smallest to biggest:

0.45  0.4  0.52  0.39

Add zeros: 0.45, 0.40, 0.52, 0.39

Correct order: 0.39 < 0.40 < 0.45 < 0.52
Order from biggest to smallest:

1.7  1.65  1.8  1.72

Correct order: 1.8 > 1.72 > 1.7 > 1.65

Practice 3: Word Problems (Canadian Style)

1. Four runners finished a race with these times:
12.45 s, 12.5 s, 12.38 s, 12.6 s
Order from fastest to slowest (smallest to biggest time):
12.38 < 12.45 < 12.5 < 12.6

2. The prices of four items are $1.25, $0.99, $1.50, $1.09.
Order from cheapest to most expensive:
$0.99 < $1.09 < $1.25 < $1.50
Challenge Question

Put these in order from smallest to biggest:
0.8, 0.75, 0.82, 0.79, 0.9
Answer: 0.75 < 0.79 < 0.8 < 0.82 < 0.9
