🌟 Hundredths 🌟

Today we are learning about **Hundredths**! This is the second place after the decimal point. You already know Tenths — now we go even smaller with Hundredths.

🔢 What is a Hundredth?

A hundredth means **1 out of 100 equal parts** of a whole.

We write it with two digits after the decimal point.

0.01 = one hundredth = 1/100

0.25 = twenty-five hundredths = 25/100 = 1/4

🏠 Decimal Place Value

After the decimal point:

0.37 means:
3 tenths + 7 hundredths
or 37 hundredths

🔗 Tenths and Hundredths Together

10 hundredths = 1 tenth

0.1 = 0.10 (10 hundredths)
0.5 = 0.50 (50 hundredths)
1.25 = 1 whole + 2 tenths + 5 hundredths

Practice 1: Write as Decimal

1. 23 hundredths → 0.23
2. 7 hundredths → 0.07
3. 1 whole and 56 hundredths → 1.56
Practice 2: Write as Fraction

1. 0.19 → 19/100
2. 0.80 → 80/100 = 4/5
3. 1.25 → 1 25/100 = 1 1/4
Practice 3: Word Problems (Canadian Style)

1. A hockey player scored 0.75 of the goals in a game. Write this as a fraction.
75/100 = 3/4

2. You ran 1.35 kilometres. How many hundredths is that?
135 hundredths (or 1 whole and 35 hundredths)
Challenge Question

Which is bigger: 0.49 or 0.5?
0.5 is bigger (because 0.5 = 0.50)
