🍫 What is a Mixed Number?

A **Mixed Number** has two parts:

Whole Number + Proper Fraction

It shows a number that is more than one whole but not a full next whole.

Examples:

1 1/2 2 3/4 3 2/5 5 1/3

📊 What Does It Mean?

2 3/4 means:

2 whole pizzas + 3 more slices out of 4 slices

(You ate two full pizzas and three quarters of another pizza!)

🔄 How to Change Between Them

Improper Fraction → Mixed Number
Divide numerator by denominator → whole number + remainder over denominator

11/4 → Mixed Number
11 ÷ 4 = 2 with remainder 3
So 2 3/4

Mixed Number → Improper Fraction
(Whole number × denominator) + numerator / denominator

3 2/5 → Improper Fraction
3 × 5 = 15
15 + 2 = 17
So 17/5

2. A recipe needs 17/6 cups of flour. Write this as a mixed number.
17/6 = 2 5/6 cups
