ποΈ What is a Composite Number?
A **composite number** is a whole number greater than 1 that has **more than two factors**.
That means it can be divided evenly by numbers other than just 1 and itself.
π Examples of Composite Numbers
Composite Numbers:
4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25...
Remember:
β’ Prime numbers have exactly 2 factors (1 and itself)
β’ Composite numbers have more than 2 factors
β’ 1 is neither prime nor composite
π How to Tell if a Number is Composite
- The number must be greater than 1.
- Check if it has any factors besides 1 and itself.
- If yes β It is composite!
Example: Is 15 composite?
Factors of 15: 1, 3, 5, 15 β More than 2 factors β Yes, composite
