🌟 Expanded Form 🌟

Today we are going to learn how to stretch numbers like a big rubber band! This is called Expanded Form and it helps us really understand the value of every digit.

📝 What is Expanded Form?

Expanded Form is a way of writing a number that shows the value of each digit separately. It helps us see how much each digit is really worth because of its place.

Remember: Each place is 10 times bigger than the place to its right!

🔢 Let’s Stretch a Number!

48,725
Standard Form: 48,725

Expanded Form:
40,000 + 8,000 + 700 + 20 + 5

Why?
• 4 is in the ten thousands place → 4 × 10,000 = 40,000
• 8 is in the thousands place → 8 × 1,000 = 8,000
• 7 is in the hundreds place → 7 × 100 = 700
• 2 is in the tens place → 2 × 10 = 20
• 5 is in the ones place → 5 × 1 = 5

Expanded Form: 20,000 + 3,000 + 400 + 50 + 6
2. 67,809
Expanded Form: 60,000 + 7,000 + 800 + 0 + 9
(We can also write 9 only, without + 0)
3. 100,000
Expanded Form: 100,000
4. 9,008
Expanded Form: 9,000 + 0 + 0 + 8 or simply 9,000 + 8

🛠️ Steps to Write Expanded Form

  1. Write the number with commas to see the places clearly.
  2. Starting from the left, multiply each digit by its place value.
  3. Add all the results with + signs.
