Ontario Curriculum - Position and Movement
In front of → The teacher is in front of the class.
Behind → The backpack is behind the chair.
Between → The book is between the pencil and the eraser.
Next to / Beside → My friend is sitting next to me.
Example 1:
“Walk forward 3 steps, then turn right, then go to the table.”
Example 2:
“The ball is behind the door and next to the red chair.”
Example 3:
“Put your hand above your head, then move it down to your side.”
Imagine a grid on the floor:

D E F
G H I
“The toy is in square E.”
“Go right to B, then down to E.”
Your teacher says: “The crayons are in the box behind the door and to the left of the window.”
To find your coat: “It is hanging on the hook between the blue jacket and the red scarf.”
During gym: “Run forward to the line, then turn left and jump over the cone.”
