3. Important Words for 3-D Shapes 📖

Face → Flat surface (like the side of a cube)

Edge → Where two faces meet (like the line of a box)

Vertex (Corner) → Point where edges meet

Curved surface → Round part (like on a sphere or cylinder)

4. 3-D Shapes in Real Life 🌍

• Dice and building blocks = Cube
• Cereal box or book = Rectangular prism
• Ball or globe = Sphere
• Ice cream cone = Cone
• Can of soup or toilet paper roll = Cylinder
• Pyramid-shaped roof or tent

5. Fun Activities to Practice 🎲

  • Go on a 3-D shape hunt in the classroom or home.
  • Sort real objects into groups (cubes, spheres, cylinders…).
  • Build towers or houses using blocks and name the shapes.
  • Make a poster showing 3-D shapes you find at home.
  • Play “I Spy a 3-D shape” with friends.
  • Use playdough to make different 3-D solids.
