Triangle

Square
β’ 4 equal sides

β’ All sides are the same length
Rectangle
β’ 4 sides
β’ 4 corners
β’ 2 long sides and 2 short sides
Circle
β’ 0 straight sides
β’ 0 corners
β’ Round and smooth all around
Sort by number of sides:
3 sides β Triangles
4 sides β Squares & Rectangles
5 sides β Pentagons
6 sides β Hexagons
Sort by number of corners:
3 corners, 4 corners, 5 corners, 6 corners
Sort by size: Small shapes and big shapes
Two squares can be different sizes but they are still squares because they have 4 equal sides and 4 corners.
A square and a rectangle both have 4 sides and 4 corners, but a square has all sides equal while a rectangle has 2 long and 2 short sides.
Two triangles can make a bigger triangle or a square.
A square + two triangles can make a house.
Many small shapes can make a big picture (like a robot or a flower).
Look around!

β’ Honeycomb = hexagons
β’ Pizza slices = triangles
