1. What is Capacity? πŸͺ£

Capacity tells us how much a container can hold.

We can fill it with water, rice, sand, or beans.

2. Full, Half Full, and Empty πŸ₯›

Full β†’ The cup is completely filled with water πŸ₯€

Half Full β†’ The cup is filled halfway πŸ₯€

Empty β†’ No water in the cup πŸ₯€

3. Measuring Capacity with Non-Standard Units πŸ₯„

Example 1: How many small cups of water fit into the big bowl?

Example 2: How many spoons of rice fit into the jar?

Example 3: Which holds more?
A small yogurt cup or a big water bottle?

The big water bottle holds much more!

4. Comparing Capacity πŸ”

The red bucket holds more water than the blue cup.
Red bucket = 12 small cups
Blue cup = 4 small cups
Red bucket holds more!

The spoon holds less than the mug.
Spoon = 1 unit
Mug = 6 units

5. Fun Activities to Practice 🎲

  • Fill different containers with water or rice and count how many small cups fit.
  • Line up containers from the one that holds the least to the one that holds the most.
  • Play β€œPour and Measure” β€” pour water from one cup to another.
  • Find 5 things at home and guess which holds more.
  • Make a chart: draw containers and write how many scoops they hold.
  • Use sand or beans in the sandbox to measure capacity.
