4. Real Life Examples 🌍

You have 3 cookies. Mom gives you 2 more. How many now?
3 + 2 = 5 cookies! Yummy!

There are 6 birds on the tree. 2 birds fly away.
6 - 2 = 4 birds left.

You have 5 pencils. You give 1 to your friend.
5 - 1 = 4 pencils left.

5. Fun Activities to Practice 🎲

  • Use fingers or counters to make all facts to 6.
  • Play “Roll and Add” or “Roll and Subtract” with a die.
  • Draw pictures for each fact (e.g. 4 + 2 = 6 stars).
  • Make a number line from 0 to 6 and jump +1 or -1.
  • Sing: “Six little ducks went out one day…”
  • Play with a friend: “I have 5, I add 1, what do I have?”
